Kernal Bunt Disease

Causal Organism= Neovossia indica

Symptoms=

·      The kernal bunt disease is characterized by the occurrence of partially infected grain in the ear.

·      The diseased grains, if crushed, given black spore mass which has peculiar stinking smell.

·      Only a few grains are attacked in the ear.

·      Infection takes place only in the flower buds soon after the oars have emerged of the boot leaf.

Favourable
condition =

   Optimum temperature= 15-35 degree

         Relative humidity= 82%

                               PH= 6.0-9.5

Disease cycle =

              Perennation= through seed, soil

     Primary infection= through seeds, farm equipment. 

 Secondary infection= through contaminated seeds, and spread thought wind.

Management =

                           Cultural method

·      Proper tillage application applies in field.

·      Proper weed management application applies in field.

·      Remove all infarcted part of the plant.

·      Use disease registrant varieties. E.g., WHD 943, PWD 291 etc.

·      Proper spacing maintain between row to row and plant to plant

·      Proper light or ventilation maintain in the field.

·      Proper field sanitation application applies in field.

                      Chemical method

·      A single spray of till / folics 25EC 200 ML / area in 200 L of water at ear emergence stage should be given to the wheat crop must for seed production only.
