Stalk Rot Disease:
Causal organism: Gibberella Fujikuroi.
Symptoms:
· The effected plant exhibit wilting symptoms.
· The stalk of the infected plants can be recognized by greyish streak.
· Shedding of the interior often of the stalk to break in the region of the crown.
· The crown region of the infected plant become dark in colour.
· Shredding of bark and disintegration of the root system are the common features.

Favourable condition:
· Temperature: 30-35 degree.
· Low soil moisture.
· High nitrogen fertilizer dose.
Disease cycle:
Perennation:
· Through plant debris and soil.
Primary infection:
· Through plant debris and soil.
Secondary infection:
· Through irrigation water.
Management:
Cultural method
· Filed sanitation.
· Crop rotation.
· Avoid stress at flowering stage.
· Grow disease tolerant varieties: SN-65, SWS-8029, Diva and Zenit.
Chemical method
· Spray macozed @0.3%.
· Seed treats with carbendazim or captan 20g/kg.
